Located along Main Street in Kansas City's Crossroads Arts District, 1989 Main is a residential property that came under new ownership seeking a fresh, more sophisticated identity for its amenity spaces and circulation areas. KBID led the interior aesthetic direction for the renovation, planned, specified, and managed procurement for a new furniture package, delivering a design that honored the project's budget while still elevating the resident experience.

Each piece was selected to speak to the building's existing architecture while giving it a more polished, upgraded appearance to attract new tenants, pairing modern silhouettes with warmth, texture, and a more personal sense of place. Furnishings were considered for how residents would actually move through and use the spaces, from quiet moments and remote work to casual gatherings and larger social events. A thoughtful mix of silhouettes, materials, and seating styles creates distinct zones while maintaining a consistent visual language throughout.

The result is a collection of comfortable, functional environments, familiar in spirit but renewed in feel, designed to support connection, flexibility, and everyday living.
